Wedding at Knollbrook Christian Reformed Church

Lydia has been a friend of ours for the past few years and we were so happy for her when she met Aaron. They really are a fantastic couple and anyone who has spent more than five minutes in their presence can tell you so. We were most pleased when she contacted us about shooting their wedding. ARE YOU KIDDING?! Of course! I don't think anything can beat being the photographer at a friend's wedding. It is a special privilege and we enjoy being a part of the action.

First glance:

They had three flower girls and one required a little extra special nudge but she was so cute!

The ceremony was beautiful and touching. Our pastor married them and so many friends were in attendance that it made it an extra special event and fun for us to shoot! The ceremony was full of deep emotion and was very impacting.

Ok, so Lydia cried a bit but the guys didn't seem to mind . . .

Following the ceremony everyone headed over to Martin Luther King, Jr. Park for the reception. Yes, it was very hot out. However, the sky was absolutely breathtaking. It was the kind of sky you'd pay to have for your pictures. Vibrant blues and wispy clouds. It really doesn't get much better than that! As you can see from the photos, it all produces a rather nice effect!

While waiting for their guests to arrive, Lydia & Aaron wandered around the park with us to capture some photos of just the two of them. This was a nice way to have a little downtime and still capture some good shots. Of course it was a little hot but I think it was worth it.

Lydia's sister gave the main toast (along with the best man, of course) at the reception and moved everyone to tears - including herself.

We were so glad to be a part of their special day. Lydia, you were breathtaking. Thank you for allowing us in to be a part of your wedding. Aaron, we look forward to knowing you better as time goes on. Blessings on you both!

Brian + Melissa

Yesterday morning we met up with Brian & Melissa for their engagement shoot. We went down by the Willamette River in the earlier part of the morning before the sun became too vicious. Brian and Melissa were very relaxed and easy going and we had a good time wandering along the river and dropping in on daisy fields. Here are the results:

Thank you, Brian & Melissa, for spending some time with us! We are looking forward to your wedding this fall.

Eric+Heidi

Last weekend we had the pleasure of meeting up with Eric and Heidi on what started out as a very cold and rainy morning! We met up at a local high school to start shooting their engagement photos. A high school campus is admittedly an odd location for an engagement shoot, but there's some pretty neat architecture around the campus and nice red doors. Hence, the high school.

The weather grew increasingly more inviting so we left the high school and drove up to Vineyard Mountain. We were able to walk down one of the paths and find a few private spots which was very nice. Eric & Heidi braved the weather and were good sports about everything.

Engagement shoots are so enjoyable because we're able to relax with the couple and learn how everyone operates before the wedding. We appreciated the time we were able to spend with Eric & Heidi and are very much looking forward to their wedding this summer! I'm pretty sure that by August we'll have some beautiful sunshine to work under! I've no doubt Heidi in particular will appreciate that! (Thanks for being such a great sport!)

Jacob & Admirers

Everyone, this is Jacob. He lives at the Kappa Delta sorority house near campus. A lot of guys would think him pretty lucky. Jacob doesn't have a clue in the world why that would be so.

Jacob has a lot of people loving on him! Of course, he's so adorable - what's not to like about this kid?

These are Jacob's parents. They are the house parents at Kappa Delta and Jacob's chaperones.

Just a little wave hello here.

The obligatory naked baby photos that babies have no say about.

Jacob's parents are big on training up children in the way that they should go. Hence the orange. May he never depart from it.

Thanks, J&S for inviting us in to take photos of your little (and extended!) family. It was fun getting to know Jacob also. You've got yourself a keeper there!

H Family Photos

In our last post (scroll down) we talked about how Lani was a mother of two, having been married for five years. In addition to the bridal shoot, we also did a family shoot with her husband and kiddoes. Meet the rest of the family. Pretty cute group, wouldn't you say?

We had a great time taking these pictures. One thing about this shoot was that we shot near Bald Hill and there were lots of people walking by with their dogs. We had to keep stopping while the kids got their fill of the latest pooch. Through this we learned that big dogs were fascinating creatures and that we should have rented one and stood it directly behind the camera! Still, the kids did great and we enjoyed our time with the family.

Thanks, guys!

Lani's Bridal Shoot

Five years of marriage and two children later, Lani thought it might be kinda cool to get some more pictures of her taken in her wedding dress. We agreed, naturally. (It really is never too late to take pictures when you really want them.) We also thought it would be fun to bring along some friends for this particular shoot and explore downtown Albany as the sun went down. We asked our friends, Andy & Elisha of e[a] Photography studios to come along. They agreed and we had such a fun (freezing) time last night!

In addition, we also talked with Heather at Thistle Dew Farms about providing a selection of bouquets for the event. If you are a bride in the area, we cannot recommend Heather highly enough. We used some of her sample preserved real flowers for the occasion and although these particular bouquets were around 3 years old -- you cannot tell! They look positively gorgeous, as you can clearly see from the pictures. Look Heather up. Use her flowers. You won't regret it. Here is an example of her "Vineyard" preserved real flowers bouquet:

Lani was such a great sport. She was even willing to climb a tree if we were really interested in that. In the better interest of her dress we declined, but all in all I'd say we walked away with some stuff we think she'll like. Here are some of our results:

Throughout the shoot people were driving by and congratulating Lani and complimenting her on her dress. It became rather humourous after awhile. It's really hard to tell she's had two kids, isn't it? Lani, you are beautiful!

Thank you, Lani, for the outing which couldn't have happened without you. Thank you, Elisha & Andy, for spending time shooting with us. As always, we loved your company! Thank you, Heather, for the amazing flowers. You do wonderful work!
