A taste of our own medicine...

Now WE know how it feels!

Last week we met up with Andy & Elisha of e[a] photography studios to take pictures of each other. We had a fun time. A challenging time! None of us, it would seem, are very good about being the ones in front of the camera. We'd all MUCH rather be behind it... but sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone and show people that it can be done. So here we are.

Here are some of our favorites of our photos of Andy and Elisha:

... and what they shot of us:

We really enjoyed hanging out with the duo at e[a] photography studios. They are just a really delightful couple that we feel very blessed to know! Thanks, guys, for sharing our company for an evening and helping create some awesome photos.

(And I'm not going to say "We heart you", but you know we do!)

Hunter's Senior Photos

We met up with Hunter yesterday to do a senior photo shoot with him. Hunter attends CVHS and has a bit of school pride, as you can see from the picture. We shot his photos on the high school campus and hit up some of his favorite and most memorable spots!

Hunter has played football and run track all through high shool, so of course we hit up the stadium!

One of our favs from the session:

Hunter, we wish you all the best your senior year!

Blessings.

Wedding at Tyee Lodge in Newport on the Oregon Coast

John & Cherie were married just this past Friday afternoon at the beautiful Tyee Lodge on the Oregon coast. They live out of state, but Cherie loves the coast, so - here they are! Or, here they came. This wedding represented not only a joining of two lives, but of two families and was very special and unique. Not only that, but every single family member was gorgeous (and/or handsome)! Check out their pictures!

During the marriage, they had a sand ceremony, in which each of the six family members participated in pouring their small containers of sand together.

J&C desired to have a small intimate ceremony with just a few friends and family. Following the ceremony we took a picture of their "guest list."

After that, we headed down to the beach to get some photos of John, Cherie and the kids!

With photos from such a beautiful environment, we spent some time in post-processing to create artistic interpretations of the scenes. We can often use subtle textures or adjustments to an image to enhance the emotion or bring out a different mood. (We will always provide the bride and groom with the original photo as well, so that they have a choice depending on how they would like to use the images.)

For example, here is one of our original photos:

And after some adjustments to the image:

We particularly liked several of the other photos from their session on the beach processed this way:

We really love doing weddings on the coast. It's so relaxing and beautiful. We're were thankful to be a part of John & Cherie's wedding and we wish them and their new family all the best.

Blessings!

Amber+Jordan 07.12.08

This past Saturday we had the honor and pleasure of photographing Amber & Jordan's wedding. It was held in her family's back yard and was a beautiful affair! They did a wonderful job arranging a beautiful wedding, with a great party following. (Steve at About Sound did an awesome job DJ'ing the event.) We spent a few minutes before the ceremony shooting some portraits of them...

The flowers were beautifully arranged by Celebration Florals.

The attention Amber paid to details was great. They had little bells with people's names on them for place cards, indicating where the guest would sit. Very cute.

For wedding favors, they chose to fill large containers with candy which they had small scoops in. They had little white bags for guests to fill up with candy at their pleasure and take with them as favors. I thought it was creative and fun. What a GREAT idea! I hadn't seen that done before but thought it particularly unique.

Thank you, Amber and Jordan, for allowing us to be a part of your day.

Blessings!

The E Family

A few weeks back we spent an evening with the E family in their home, creating some updated family portraits. We had a lot of fun playing in their yard, running and dashing about and generally having a good time.

It's very fun doing photo shoots in the home, particularly when the family is trying to create a set of photos that are "them." Home is sometimes the very best place to be (!) - particularly if there are a lot of children involved. Being in a place where the kids can relax can help make sure everyone is.

Here are some of the results:

Thanks, E family, for allowing us into your homes and lives for an evening. We had a great time being around such joyful children. Blessings! J&C

We love our engaged couples and the beautiful jewelry and style they bring to photo sessions, like Asscher Cut Engagement Rings, Emerald Cut Engagement Rings, Tension Set Engagement Rings, or even the eye-catching Pear Shaped Engagement Rings.
